Time to Pray
As a church leadership we are committed to growing a vibrant, loving, healthy, inclusive worshipping community at St Martin’s.
For the past few months we have used a ‘Prayer for Growth’ as part of our Sunday worship. However, we are coming to realise that praying together on a more regular basis is essential.
According to Robert Warren’s Healthy Churches Handbook, more people praying personally as well as more people being involved in a church prayer group are evidence of a church that is consciously ‘Energised by Faith’ – his first mark of a Healthy Church.
We would like to begin a prayer group meeting weekly on a Monday evening at 7pm for about 30 minutes starting on the 2nd October. Topics for prayer could include such things as
-
Church Growth and Discipleship
-
Worship including our musicians and leaders.
-
Pastoral care including praying for the sick, needy and bereaved.
-
Children and young people
-
Our schools
-
Our community
-
Anything else
No one would be expected to pray out loud spontaneously unless they wanted to. Presence is more important than participation. Anyone could bring a prayer or an inspirational reading that they have prepared beforehand.
We hope that you might want to come along, or if you can’t attend to pray with us during this time at home or wherever you might be (keeping your eyes open if you are driving!)
Yours in Christ
