St. Martin’s Bell Ringers
There are 8 bells in the Tower at St. Martin’s. Practice is Friday evening from 7.30pm to 9.00pm, with ringing before Sunday Evensong from 5.45pm to 6.30pm. The ringers perform at St. Martin’s and elsewhere for weddings, quarter peals, peals and on ringing tours and frequently invite visitors to ring at Brighouse.
Church bell ringing is a mentally stimulating and sociable hobby which can be enjoyed from the age of twelve. There is no maximum age. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be physically strong and after a couple of months learning to handle a bell you can ring at any Tower in the country.
